A thin maiden, to put it charitably, with only a few that hold any sort of claims. October Hill (second choice) and Queen Maeve are firmly in calculations but neither of them look bombproof and in the circumstances the vote goes to SILVEREEN in the hope she can build on last month's hurdles debut now back on better ground. Caterpillar Girl also needs a second look, while those looking for an upset could do worse than consider Babychino.[Richard Russell] Show less
Spotlight: Yet to score in eight attempts over hurdles but she's been placed five times, in Ireland and for David Pipe, and her third of 13 at Taunton (2m3f, good to soft) was a solid effort in January; hasn't quite matched that in two subsequent starts but didn't stay 3m last time and now drops back down in trip in a modest event; tongue-tie added and she holds obvious claims.
Spotlight: Fairly promising fifth of 15 on hurdles debut at Leopardstown (2m2f, good to yielding) in December; that form has taken one or two knocks, however, and it was a disappointing stable debut when 15-8 but beaten 26l at Hereford last month; still early days and she needs firm consideration in this company.
Spotlight: All three starts over 2m on good ground; 15-2 and won small-field bumper at Warwick in May; beaten 23l on hurdles debut at Worcester in October but that form received an elephantine boost when the winner landed the Dawn Run at last week's Cheltenham Festival; had an excuse (bled) when last seen in November; requires a second look.
Spotlight: Solid start when fourth of eight in course bumper (good) in November; hasn't built on that on soft ground since, including when 125-1 and last of seven finishers on her hurdle debut over C&D six weeks ago; that was a tidy little affair, however, and she can be expected to do much better in this lesser contest.
Spotlight: Promise in first two bumpers, in Ireland and for Harry Fry, but she signed off for the latter with a disappointing run at Uttoxeter in October 2024; came back from an absence and showed nothing at 66-1 on hurdles/stable debut 45 days ago.
Spotlight: 16-1 and beaten 32l in a point bumper at Larkhill (good) when hooded and tongue tied in December; has joined a good yard but needs plenty more on this introduction to hurdles.
Spotlight: Irish point winner on heavy; beaten favourite in both bumpers and modest third in seller in sole completed attempt over hurdles; 100-1 and pulled up at Southwell (also about 2m4f, soft) last time; drop in trip might help but it needs to.
Spotlight: Second in two Irish points in the autumn but it was a heavy defeat in Huntingdon bumper on rules debut in January and again well beaten on hurdles debut over C&D (good to soft) three weeks ago.
Spotlight: 50-1 and beaten 49l in Stratford bumper in October; dam was a five-time winning hurdler so possible she'll do better in this sphere.
Spotlight: Runner-up in seller for Adrian Keatley in sole Flat start; tough tasks when pulled up in first two starts over hurdles and she raced wide and freely when beaten 39l in today's hood at Warwick 11 days ago; this is easier and it's not beyond the realms she can take a step forward.
Spotlight: £1,000 yearling by Bobby's Kitten; 300-1 and she was struggling from an early stage when pulled up at Hereford last month; cheekpieces go on.
Spotlight: Increasingly bigger prices and she beat a total of three rivals across three bumpers this term; switch to hurdles needs to prompt serious improvement.
